Privacy Policy

Inkwell PDF ("we", "us", "our") is an online PDF processing tool. You can contact us at info@inkwelltools.com for any privacy-related questions.

• Account information: your email address and display name when you register.
• Usage data: which tools you use and how many operations you perform per day, to enforce plan limits.
• Subscription data: your plan tier and billing status, managed via Stripe.
• Technical data: browser type, device type, and general IP-based region — used for security and analytics only.

Most PDF operations — merging, splitting, compressing, rotating, page numbering, watermarking, signing, OCR, and adding or removing passwords — run entirely in your browser, and those files never leave your device. Four features are exceptions, described in Section 3 and labeled in the app: PDF to DOCX and Chat with PDF (which use an AI service), Seal (hosted signing), and Signature Requests (Inkwell Sign) — which upload and store your document so the recipient can sign it.

Four features send content off your device. All four are clearly labeled in the app before you use them. Two use a third-party AI service:

• Chat with PDF: text is extracted from your PDF locally in your browser, and only that text — with your question — is sent to a third-party AI provider to generate a response. Your PDF file itself is never uploaded.
• PDF to DOCX: to rebuild your document as an editable Word file, your pages are uploaded to our secure storage and sent to Google's Gemini AI service for conversion. These uploaded pages are held in our app's file storage as part of providing the service.

We do not use the content of your documents to train AI models. How a third-party AI provider handles content sent to it is governed by that provider's own terms. If you would rather not send document content to an AI service, simply don't use these two features.

Two features are hosted signing, which stores your document by design:

• Seal and Signature Requests (Inkwell Sign): so that other people can open and sign your document from a private link, the document is uploaded to a private storage bucket that only our servers can access. The signed copy, the signature images, and an audit trail of each step (sent, opened, agreed, signed) are stored there too, as a record of the signing. All of it is permanently deleted when you delete your account.

Every other tool runs entirely in your browser.

• To provide and maintain your account.
• To enforce subscription plan limits and track daily usage credits.
• To process payments via Stripe.
• To respond to support requests.
• To improve the service through aggregated, anonymized analytics.

• Stripe — payment processing. Subject to Stripe's privacy policy.
• Third-party AI provider — powers Chat with PDF. Only extracted text is sent; your file is not uploaded.
• Google (Gemini) — powers PDF to DOCX conversion. Uploaded pages are processed to produce your Word file.
• Base44 — application hosting and file storage for pages uploaded to PDF to DOCX.
• Supabase — secure database hosting for account and usage data, and private storage for documents sent through Seal and Signature Requests.

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Usage statistics are reset daily. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time (see Section 8).

• Access: request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Correction: update your display name from your Profile page.
• Deletion: delete your account and all data (see Section 8).
• Portability: request an export of your account data.

You can permanently delete your account at any time from inside the app:

1. Sign in to Inkwell PDF.
2. Go to Profile.
3. Scroll to the "Danger Zone" section and click Delete Account.
4. Confirm the deletion.

This immediately and permanently deletes your account, usage records, and subscription data. This action cannot be undone.
